ARTIST STATEMENT

I have been playing with watercolor for many years but only recently discovered how much fun and relaxing it can be.  

I start by creating a contour drawing of my subject and continue by selecting vibrant colors and applying them in a certain combination onto the paper. I am obsessed with color and let the colors guide me as I paint. Next, I look for shapes to create a composition that appeals to me and add values of dark and light that result in musical rhythm and flow of colour. Finally, I superimpose a collage of fabrics and/or papers and determine if the painting sings to me...if it does, I know it is complete.
